Possessive adjectives, possessive pronouns, object pronouns


Pronouns are words that take the place of a noun.They are:

I
You
He
She
It
We
They


Possessive Adjectives are used to describe a noun. They show possession by referring back to the possessor.

The Possessive Adjectives are: 

My
Your
His
Her
Its
Our
Your
Their

Examples: 

1. My sister's husband is a vegetarian. Her husband is a vegetarian.
2. Sam's daughter is a vegetarian too. His daughter is a vegetarian too.
3. We love our hamburgers and fries.



Possessive adjectives are used with a noun.

Examples:

1. My name is Mary.
2. He lives with his parents.
3. Every week we clean our backyard.












Possessive pronouns are:

Mine
Yours
His
Hers
Its
Ours
Theirs

They are never used with a noun.

The grammar requirements for possessive adjectives and possessive pronouns are different. Please, don't confuse them. 


Possessive adjectives are used with nouns.


1. What's your problem?
2. Jane doesn't have my phone number.



Possessive pronouns are used alone


1. I have your address. Do you have mine?
2. His ring is very expensive. How about hers?
