  1. Christopher Columbus was a great explorer and navigator. He traveled a lot.As a result of his many voyages he discovered many new places. He discovered America in 1492.

Christopher Columbus was born in Italy in 1451 and died in 1506. He was the first of his three brothers;Bianchinetta was his sister. He married only once, with Felipa Moniz.

When Christopher Columbus was 13 years old he went to sea. He found sea journeys very exiting. He wanted to find a new rout to India. He believed he could reach the India by sailing west across the Atlantic ocean to buy goods like silk and spices , these things were very valuable. That was a new idea, because he thought that the earth was round, like ball. But he had no money and ships. He decided to ask the kings and queen of Spain to help him, because she was a rich woman and she had a lot of money and ships. She gave him three ships: the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. She also gave him men to sail in the ships with him.But when he reached land, he thought that he was in India, on the continent of Asia. For this reason, he called the people that he saw "Indians".Later, people realized that columbus had come to a completely New world.

His discovery was important because people learned that the earth was round, not flat. Also, Europeans began to colonize the New world. He did four travels from Europe to America and then other explorers follow him.

Now, I knew he was a famous man for discovering the Americas and the people that already lived there. I knew that the king of England refused to give him funding.
I'm very happy for learning Columbus history and I can tell my children about him if they ask me on Columbus's day.
